Application

REPAIR IMPLANT is a treatment protocol for managing peri-implantitis using Er,Cr:YSGG laser technology. The protocol enables clinicians to perform minimally invasive procedures with photo-acoustic laser energy for degranulation of inflammatory lesions around dental implants. The unique side firing tip provides effective subgingival access for decontamination of implant surfaces and cleaning between threads without causing damage or significant temperature elevation in titanium implants.

The McGuire Institute designed a randomly controlled clinical trial with the strictest of protocols—examiners were calibrated and blinded to the treatment performed, and test and control sites all received non-surgical root planning prior to receiving random assignment of either minimally invasive surgery (MIST) or Er:YSGG laser mono-therapy. The study found that the BIOLASE REPAIR protocol showed less bruising, swelling and post-operative bleeding in patients vs. MIST at the 6 month time point.
