Most ideal shape of flow resulting in a more homogeneous casting structure without cavities or shrinkholes. The al dente casting sprues "EM" with a sprue's head diametre of 6–7–8 mm are used for precious metal alloys. al dente casting sprues "NEM" with a sprue's head diametre of 7–8–9 mm and an increased cross-section of the sprue are especially used for vacuum pressure castings, non-precious alloys and precious-metal reduced alloys. Advantages include reshaping of the ball to its technically most ideal shape of flow, easy and metal-saving removal after casting, more homogenous texture without cavities, and easiest waxing of the sticks by soaking.
