DSI Suturing Materials

There are two general categorizations in which sutures are classified, absorbable and non-absorbable. Sutures can also be classified as monofilament or multifilament. DSI suture portfolio covers the most popular types. Every suture comes in individual sterile pouch with a specially designed curved needle made of a hardened steel.

Product Types

• PTFE: DSI Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) suture is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical monofilament suture composed of 100% Teflon® thread and ultra-sharp needle from Japanese stainless steel.

• Nylon: DSI Nylon Monofilament non-absorbable suture composed of long-chain aliphatic polymers of nylon. 100% synthetic origin and causes only a minimal reaction of the body tissues.

• Silk: DSI Silk is nonabsorbable, sterile, non-mutagenic surgical sutures, composed of natural proteinaceous silk fibers called fibroin. It is a braided, black dyed, coated suture.

• PGA: DSI PGA Polyglycolic Acid Sutures an absorbable braided synthetic homopolymer of glycolic acid. Composed of a Polyglycolic acid coated with polycaprolactone and calcium stearate.

• Catgut: DSI Plain Catgut is an absorbable suture made by twisting together strands of purified collagen taken from bovine intestines (free of BSE and aphthous fever) treated with a glycerol-containing solution.

• Chromic Gut: DSI Chromic Gut is an absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of purified connective tissue (mostly collagen) treated with chromic salt solution to provide greater resistance to absorption.

• PDS: This kit is focused on fixation of the barrier membrane to the local bone. Includes applicator, tack storage cassettes and contra-angle drivers.

• PGA Rapid: DSI PGA Rapid are synthetic, absorbable, fast-resorbed, coated surgical sutures, that are absorbed completely by hydrolysis in the body.
