Overview of GDT PLX Sutures
GDT PLX Sutures are sterile, synthetic, absorbable monofilament sutures composed of Polydioxanone, a polymer known for being non-antigenic, non-pyrogenic, and eliciting only a slight tissue reaction during absorption. Dyed with D&C Violet No. 2 during polymerization, these sutures provide excellent visibility. The sutures are permanently attached to 3/8 Circle 20.0mm Reverse Cutting hardened stainless steel needles, ensuring durability and precision during surgical procedures.

Our GDT Surgical Polydioxanone (PLX) Sutures are composed of a synthetic homopolymer of polyester, poly (p-dioxanone). They retain 70% of their initial tensile strength after 2 weeks, 50% after 4 weeks, and 25% after 6 weeks, providing the longest period of wound support among absorbable sutures. Complete absorption occurs within 180 days. These sutures are available in USP sizes 3-0, 4-0, and 5-0, each with a length of 75.0 cm.

Indications and Selection
GDT PLX Sutures are indicated for use in all types of soft tissue approximation, including pediatric cardiovascular tissue where growth is expected, ophthalmic, and dental surgery. They are particularly beneficial when an absorbable suture with extended wound support (up to six weeks) is required. The selection of sutures should be based on the patient's condition, surgical experience, technique, and wound size.
Performance and Benefits
GDT PLX Sutures lead to the ingrowth of fibrous connective tissue due to minimal initial inflammatory reaction. The sutures gradually lose tensile strength and are absorbed by hydrolysis, with the co-polymer degrading into monomeric acid, specifically 2 hydroxyethoxyacetic acid, which is subsequently absorbed and eliminated by the body. The performance of these sutures in terms of tensile strength is as follows:

- Approximately 69.7% at 28 days
- Approximately 57.95% at 43 days
- Approximately 40.55% at 57 days
These sutures exhibit excellent elasticity, very low tissue reaction, and smooth passage through tissues due to their low frictional coefficient. They provide superior wound support with minimal complications, ensuring effective and reliable surgical outcomes.
