JetStar's bicarbonate jet has a mechanical effect, removing impurities from the surface of tooth enamel by blasting bicarbonate crystals, driven by air and water under pressure. This removal is delicate and effective, not damaging the enamel or causing tooth sensitivity, when directed correctly under the surface and when the regions of exposed dentin are properly protected.
