Working Principle

A laser absorption solution containing indocyanine green (ICG), LEAP™ solution has high absorption efficiency of 810nm diode laser energy. At optimal conditions, the laser induces a local thermal explosion to ablate residual and infected tissues in the canal without heating the surrounding dentin. The LEAP solution is injected with a 30-gauge needle with the laser energy delivered through a specialized 200μm tip. The canal only needs to be enlarged to about 250μm size in the apical third area.

Procedure Steps

Step 1: Create access

Step 2:

  • Use hand file to remove major tissues
  • Using any file or file system to open 0.25 access in apical third using NaOCl as lubricant
  • Rinse with EDTA
  • Dry with paper point

Step 3:

  • Inject LEAP solution to fill canal
  • Solution remains in place for 1 minute

Step 4:

  • Insert laser tip to 2mm from apex
  • Use Leap setting to activate laser
  • Slowly withdraw laser tip out of canal over a 30-second period
  • Repeat above procedure a second time

Step 5:

  • Rinse the canal with sterile saline
  • Dry the canal with sterile paper point

Step 6:

  • Seal the canal with BC sealer and GP cone
Clinical Results

An Independent clinical study of more than 90 patients demonstrates that LEAP can achieve above 99.9% bacterial reduction and greater patient comfort, independent of the user or file system.

  • 75% had no pain
  • 12.5% had level 1 pain, gone in 1 day
  • 12.5% had level 2 pain, gone in 1 day
