TILITE CASTING INSTRUCTIONS

WAXING Maintain a uniform .2 - .3mm thickness for copings.

SPRUING Direct spruing for single units is recommended using 10 gauge wax sprues. Indirect spruing with runner bar is recommended for multiple units.

INVESTING For optimum results use Talladium's Casting Investment following manufacturer's instructions.

BURNOUT After bench set, place the invested ring(s) in the burnout oven at 1700°F (927°C) and allow to heat soak 15 sec. per gram of investment in the ring. Add 10 mins. extra for each additional ring. For example, 60 gram ring x .25 of a minute = 15 minutes in oven.

CASTING Cast in quartz crucible without flux. Melt with a gas/oxygen torch with a multi-orifice tip. Oxygen setting should be 35 - 40 psi on the regulator. If using propane, set the fuel gauge no higher than 2 psi. Induction casting set temperature to 2425°F (1329°C). Do not overheat.

FINISHING Prepare surface with Talladium's Wear-Ever discs or T-2 Diamond. Thoroughly sandblast with 65-80 psi using 50 micron of Talladium's Brazilian reddish brown aluminum oxide. Place in ultrasonic cleaner using distilled water for 2 minutes.

DEGASSING Place unit(s) in furnace at 1000°F (538°C). Raise temp to 1790°F (977°C) at 100°F (55°C) per min. with full vacuum and no hold time. The surface should exhibit a straw-golden colored oxide. If the oxide appears to be blueish in color then the high temperature is too low. If the oxide appears to be reddish brown color then the high temp was too high.

OPAQUING The first opaque should be brought up to 1850°F (1010°C) then proceed to follow manufactures instructions. University tests have shown a stronger bond using this method.

SOLDERING Hi-Tech Pre Solder #202. Use Hi-Tech Pre Flux #702 Post Solder #201. Use Post Flux #701
