Product Overview

Needlestick injuries have a huge impact on medical professionals and patients alike. With an estimated 2 to 3,5 million incidents every year, the physical, emotional and financial costs of a needlestick injury are extensive. This experience inspired a Dutch dentist to develop a universal, reliable, and easy-to-use solution to twist off any contaminated needle from a dental syringe immediately after the procedure.

NeedleOff 2 defeats the purpose of recapping, with fast, automated contaminated needle removal and integrated safe storage. On top of the practical benefits, NeedleOff 2 enables sustainable waste separation. Now only bare needles are stored in the Sharptainer, this small container has a high storage capacity, which significantly reduces the volume of medical waste for incineration. The plastic needle caps are no longer (re)used and can be conveniently recycled as generic plastic waste.

To bring an end to recapping, the primary cause of needlestick incidents, NeedleOff 2 enabled automated needle removal next to the chair. Now, NeedleCover takes safety, speed and sustainability to the next level. With a NeedleCover Syringe, the needle can be securely covered after every injection for temporary storage, while it allows adding anesthetic as needed. Locked in the closed position after the final injection, the NeedleCover Syringe is safe for transfer to NeedleOff 2. Needle removal can be safely postponed and delegated to staff, without impacting or slowing down your workflow. NeedleOff 2 can now be positioned in a central location for shared use. EU DIRECTIVE COMPLIANCE

In an effort to prevent sharps injuries in the hospital and healthcare sector, the European Union published Council Directive 2010/32/EU, which all European Union member states are required to implement. It states that the practice of recapping shall be banned immediately. Where risk cannot be eliminated, the employer must take appropriate measures to minimise risks: "Where there is a risk of mechanical contact with moving parts of work equipment which could lead to accidents, those parts must be provided with guards or devices to prevent access to danger zones or to halt movement of dangerous parts before danger zones are reached".
