The treatment with the PS Instrument is pain-free¹ if used the correct way. A pain-free¹ and pleasant treatment is the dream of every patient. This is the key to patient loyalty and satisfaction.

The PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ MAX module automatically adjusts the device's power based on the type of calculus it encounters. Instead of always using the maximum preset power, the system dynamically increases or decreases the power depending on the nature of the calculus, rather than just its presence.

The PS Instrument

For 95% of all cases. Supra & subgingival scaling and periodontal debridement up to 10 mm. The PS instrument is designed to be as slim and smooth as a periodontal probe - minimally invasive, maximally preventive and gum friendly, preserving the tissues with its unique linear movement.

By using only one instrument to do 95% of the work, things will be easier. For the 5% that remain we recommend our new curved PIEZON® PSL and PSR Instruments.

How does PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ work?

PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ uses linear oscillations at 32,000 movements per second to create precise and gentle vibrations. It includes:

• Intelligent Power Feedback: Automatically adjusts output based on resistance detected during use.
• Linear Movement: Reduces trauma to soft tissues and maximizes comfort.
• Temperature Control: Water temperature can be adjusted (non-heated up to 40°C) for sensitive patients.

What is PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ technology?

PIEZON® NO PAIN¹ is EMS's advanced ultrasonic scaling system, engineered to provide maximum comfort during treatment. It uses piezoelectric technology to deliver linear, precise vibrations — unlike magnetostrictive or air scalers — and only delivers power when and where it's needed.

The system works as a trilogy of three core elements:

• Electronic Module (NO PAIN¹) – Intelligently regulates power delivery in real time.
• PIEZON® Handpiece – Houses the piezoelectric crystal that ensures precise, linear motion.

What is the EMS PIEZON® PS Instrument?

The EMS PIEZON® PS (Perio Slim) Instrument is a precision-engineered ultrasonic scaler tip crafted in Switzerland. It's designed for both supragingival and subgingival scaling, reaching depths up to 10 mm. Its slim, probe-like design ensures gentle, minimally invasive treatments, making it suitable for 95% of clinical cases.

How long does a PIEZON® PS Instrument last?

Each PS Instrument is designed for over 1,000 treatments, translating to a cost of just a few cents per patient. Regular checks are recommended, and the instrument should be replaced once wear reaches 2 mm to maintain optimal performance.

Are there specialized instruments for specific cases?

Yes, EMS offers:

• PIEZON® P Instrument: For removing hard calculus in shallow pockets.
• PIEZON® PSL/PSR Instruments: Designed for challenging interproximal areas.
• PIEZON® PI Instrument: Tailored for implant maintenance with a PEEK-coated tip.

Where can I receive training on using the PIEZON® PS Instrument?

The Swiss Dental Academy offers comprehensive training sessions, both in-person and online, to ensure clinicians can maximize the benefits of the PS Instrument.
