Initial appliance for habit correction
The Trainer for Alignment (T4A®) Phase 1 is a soft appliance with the flexibility to adapt to misaligned anterior teeth. When used, light forces are applied to the anterior teeth to assist their alignment into the correct arch form. The T4A® Phase 1 can also be used simultaneously with specific arch development appliances. Extra spacing in the palatal area means it can be used with The Farrell Bent Wire System™ (BWS) and MRC's Myolay™ arch development systems.
Design Features
The design features of the T4A® Phase 1 are ideally suited for initial correction of any malocclusion (except Class III) in the early permanent dentition, while also helping to correct breathing and soft tissue dysfunctions.
- Tongue tag - trains the tongue to sit correctly up in the roof of the mouth, improving myofunctional habits.
- Tongue guard - stops tongue thrusting when in place and encourages nose breathing.
- Aerofoil base - assists jaw development and position, opening the bite and decompressing the TMJ.
Directions for Use
The Trainer appliance is to be used for one to two hours each day, plus overnight while sleeping. The patient's teeth may become slightly sensitive in the early stages of treatment. This is quite normal, however, if pain becomes excessive, decrease application time with the aim to build it back up once the appliance is accustomed to and sensitivity subsides.
Step 1: Hold the T4A® with the tongue tag facing up.
Step 2: Place the T4A® into your mouth.
Step 3: Keep your tongue positioned on the tongue tag.
Step 4: Close down on the T4A® and feel it working to align your front teeth and jaws.
Step 5: Keep your lips together and breathe through your nose.
Cleaning the Appliance
The Trainer appliance should be cleaned under warm running water every time the patient removes it from their mouth.
Use Myoclean™ tablets to thoroughly clean twice a week. Myoclean™ is the recommended cleaning agent for all MRC appliances.
